COURSE OVERVIEW

Introductory Driving
Five 50 minute lessons

Introductory Driving is offered in five 50 minute instruction periods. During the instruction time, the student and instructor will drive together behind the wheel one on one. This minimizes distractions and potential embarrassment while building student confidence. This course counts toward the 45 hour minimum requirement for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). This course is not available for observers.

To participate in introductory driving, all students must secure their Virginia Learner’s Permit from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). To earn this permit, the DMV expects all potential student drivers to pass a two part exam and a vision screening. The exam’s first part is the successful recognition of all ten traffic sign questions. The exam’s second part requires students to pass 80% of the general knowledge questions. Safe Driving School of the Piedmont can help you prepare for this exam with Written Test Preparation. Learn more about the exam at the DMV.
